Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Measure and mark the desired location on the wall for your shelf.
2. Cut the pine board to the desired length (24" standard used here).
3. Sand all surfaces of the wood board starting with 120 grit, then finish with 220 grit for smoothness.
4. Apply wood filler to any knots or imperfections; let dry and sand smooth.
5. (Optional) Apply wood stain or paint evenly and let dry completely.
6. (Optional) Apply a clear polyurethane coat to protect the wood and let dry.
7. Attach mounting brackets or a wooden cleat to the back bottom edge of the shelf for a floating look.
8. Use a level to mark and drill holes in the wall where the shelf will be mounted.
9. Insert wall anchors if mounting on drywall.
10. Screw the shelf securely into the wall anchors or studs.
11. Double-check that the shelf is level and stable before placing items on it.
