Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Take a sheet of cardstock or sturdy paper and cut it into a 3-inch by 6-inch rectangle to form the rocket body.
2. Roll the rectangle tightly around the straw to create the rocket tube. Tape the edge securely so it doesn't unroll.
3. Trim the rocket tube if it is longer than the straw by about 0.5 inch to ensure a snug fit.
4. Cut out small fins from another piece of cardstock – about 1 inch tall and 0.5 inch wide triangles.
5. Tape the fins evenly spaced around one end of the rocket tube to stabilize flight.
6. Decorate the rocket with markers or crayons to personalize it.
7. To launch, insert the rocket tube onto the straw and blow sharply into the straw to send the rocket flying.
8. Repeat and experiment with different fin shapes and decorations!
