Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cut 8 cords, each about 12 feet long.
2. Fold all cords in half and loop them through the wooden ring using a Lark's Head knot, so you have 16 working strands.
3. Divide the cords into four groups of 4 strands each.
4. Starting with the first group, tie square knots about 4 inches down from the ring to create the owl's head base.
5. To form the owl’s eyes, tie two horizontal half hitch knots in the center cords of the middle two groups, creating two loops resembling eyes.
6. Continue tying alternating square knots below the eyes to form the owl’s body, about 6 inches in length.
7. About 2 inches from the bottom, separate the cords into two groups to tie gathering knots that will hold the planter securely.
8. Tie a large gathering knot around all the cords about 3 inches below, leaving a 4-inch fringe at the bottom.
9. Trim the fringe evenly and comb it out if desired for a feathery look.
10. Place the planter inside the hanger by resting it on the gathering knot and adjust knots if needed for a snug fit.
11. Hang your macramé owl planter using the wooden ring and enjoy your new decorative piece!
