Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the DVD holder box: if using wood, cut or buy a box sized for DVDs. If using cardboard, reinforce edges for sturdiness.
2. Cut a door on the front of the box using a craft knife or saw, leaving one side as a hinge side.
3. Attach small hinges to the door and the box to allow it to open and close smoothly.
4. Install the lock on the door and the corresponding catch on the box so the door can be locked and unlocked with the key.
5. Sand all edges smooth and optionally paint or stain the box for a finished look. Allow to dry.
6. Wire the red LED to the battery holder, ensuring correct polarity. Connect the LED circuit through the rotary switch so twisting the knob turns the LED on/off.
7. Mount the rotary switch on the side or top of the box where it can be easily twisted.
8. Secure the battery holder inside the box with hot glue or screws.
9. Place the LED inside the box near the DVDs to illuminate when on.
10. Test the twist switch to confirm the LED lights up and turns off correctly.
11. Organize your DVDs inside, close the door, and lock it if desired.
12. Clean up any excess glue and ensure all electrical connections are safe and insulated.
