Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cut eight lengths of macrame cord, each about 6 feet long.
2. Attach all cords to the wooden dowel using a Lark's Head Knot, folding each cord in half over the dowel.
3. Starting with the leftmost four cords, create square knots across these cords.
4. Repeat the square knots in rows, alternating the cords used to create a diamond pattern.
5. Introduce diagonal double half hitch knots to shape the design and add texture.
6. Continue knotting until the hanging reaches your desired length, about 18 inches.
7. Trim the bottom cords evenly or into a V shape.
8. Optional: Comb out the ends of the cords for a soft fringe effect.
9. Hang your finished wall hanging using a nail or hook in your chosen spot.
