Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare your workspace and tape down your watercolor paper on a flat surface to prevent warping.
2. Lightly sketch your abstract shapes or leave the paper blank for freeform painting.
3. Wet the paper slightly with clean water if you want a soft wash effect.
4. Apply watercolor paints using broad brush strokes or splashes, layering colors while still wet for blending.
5. Allow the watercolor to dry completely (this may take 30-60 minutes).
6. Using your pencil, lightly sketch detailed shapes or patterns over the dried watercolor areas.
7. Trace over your pencil sketches with black fine liner pens, using thinner pens for intricate lines and thicker pens for bold outlines.
8. Erase any visible pencil marks carefully once the ink is dry.
9. Add final touch-ups or highlights with watercolor or ink as desired.
10. Remove the masking tape slowly to reveal clean edges if used.
11. Display or frame your finished abstract watercolor and ink illustration.
